This weeks race brought the NL.LFS pack to Kyoto National. This race would conclude the drivers championship. Even though one event is still ahead, a two hour teamrace at Aston Historic, this race will only be part of the team championship. In the end, Bob van Vliet finishes fifth in the race and finds himself second in the final standings! Michiel Jagersma finishes second in the race which results in a final fifth spot.
Our newsposting is actually one event behind, Westhill reversed saw Bob van Vliet finishing in fourth position. Michiel Jagersma was having technical difficulties and wasn't able to finish the race. As a result, the team championship was wide open again. Both other RDR drivers had their own share of problems, Martin Elberts struggled with his racepace and finished 11th. Tim Borst had a fantastic race, he was running in fifth position most of the time, but ultimately ran into MRNL's Theo Erents and did not finish.
Bob had a theoretical chance on clinching the title in Kyoto would Johnny Koning, Ramon Blauwhoff or Wouter de Bruijn run into trouble. But in the end they didn't. Wouter de Bruijn won the race convincingly in his XRR, the first win this season for that cartype! Michiel Jagersma came in second after leading the race for twenty laps. After his pitstop he had much trouble passing Tobias Douvens' XRR and fell quite a bit behind Wouter de Bruijn. Bob van Vliet struggled the whole race, saw some offs here and there, but eventually finished in fifth position. His clear and consistent driving ultimately resulted in a well deserved second spot in the final driver standings. XPowers' Johnny Koning clinched the GTR and the overall title. From us at RDR, congratulations to him!
Both Michiel and Bob, the only competing RDR drivers at Kyoto, did a great job and regained first position for RDR Red in the team standings! The final race of the season will decide it all, it's gonna be an exciting one!
